I have to say that I am very relieved that today was the last day of t-ball and pitching machine. I really enjoy it, but I am always glad when it is done. The kids had great teams this year and had a lot of fun, which is what is important. I learned a lot being a coach this year for Mitchel's team. Coaching was a little harder than I thought it would be, but I did enjoy it. My favorite part of coaching the team was that I actually paid attention to the game, and I loved it when Hayden Jackson called me coach, and asked me if we were winning the game, I also loved that he always cared where he played and he was really interested in the game unlike most of the other kids on the team. Savanna learned a lot playing pitching machine for the first time. Their team improved so much over the year, I think next year will be a better year for them.

Memory Lane

Last night was one of the those nights that I felt like was a blast from the past. I went to my work summer BBQ. And my cousin Alex who also works at Koala Kids showed up in her new jeep that her family has rebuilt. She took me and the kids for the ride in it and it reminded me of my convertible that I bought when I was about her age. I had so much fun in that car at the time. But I had to sell it to go on my mission- a much better choice. I felt young again last night going in her jeep with no top. She also came over to my house after the party and we watched "New Moon" together that I hadn't seen yet. It was fun, and reminded me of the days when I used to go to her house when she was a baby and watch movies with her parents. Crazy how time goes by.

We went up to Fall Creek for the evening and rode around on the 4-wheeler and had dinner with our friends. It was a fun night. Mitch riding the big 4-wheelr, it was a bit scary

We got to watch little Naomi for a while last night. Carolina got a bit jealous of me giving her all the attention.

Our little baby is growing up!

Hopefully we will have many more fun pictures to share as the summer continues.

Busy Summer so far!

I haven't posted any blog updates for a while, only because we have been very busy! Now that it is finally warming up it feels like summer!

I love the summer time, I have so many fun memories as a child from the summer. Playing in the backyard with the neighbors for hours, jumping on the tramp with the sprinkler, riding bikes, swimming, staying up late night after night, picnics, getting shaved ices and many other fun things. I am trying to give my kids these same kind of memories. I never realized how exhausting it is for the mother.

We are doing t-ball and pitching machine for Mitch and Savanna. They are loving it and doing very well. I am coaching Mitchel's team and never realized how much energy it takes to be the coach. It makes me appreciate all the ladies that have coaches my kids in years past.

We have spent lots of time outside riding bikes. The kids and I havc rode our bikes over to my parents house several times already this year- they love doing it! I have a bike trailer so Treyton and Carolina get in that and Savanna and Mitch ride their bikes. They feel like it is a real adventure even though it is only less than a mile away from our house.

The kids have spent lots of time playing with their cousins, they love them so much. It is fun to have best friends so close! I hope they will always be good friends with their cousins.

We are staying up later at night than we should, but we are trying to keep up on the reading so we aren't all bad.

Reid has been having fun going on rides on his motorbike- he is still a major kid at heart.

I am trying to get back into running and am trying to make some time for myself to do some training for a 1/2 marathon. I forgot how hard this is- hopefully I will be able to lose some weight in the process.

We have a few fun camping trips planned for the rest of the summer that we are looking forward to.

I hope that my kids can look back on their summers as children and remember them fondly like I do.

Update on Carolina's burn

It will be a week tomorrow since Carolina got the burn on her arm. As of tonight it is looking a lot better. It still has a lot of healing to do. I took her to Ray Bingham's house on Monday (he is a guy in our neighborhood that works in wound care) and he looked at it and gave me some suggestions on how to care for it. This whole thing has been a pain (literally for Carolina). She has been really grumpy. I have kept it wrapped up and had long sleeve shirts on her daily so that she doesn't try to pull the bandages off. I just hope it continues to heal nicely and that she doesn't end up with a nasty scar.

The accident

There are moments as a Mother that I have felt like a failure and this is one of those. On friday night after the boys went off to the Fathers and Son's outing Savanna, Carolina and I were going to go do some shopping and then out to dinner for a girls night out. I was in my bathroom touching up my make-up and fixing my hair. Savanna and Carolina were in the other room playing. Before I realized it they were in my bathroom and Carolina pulled my curling iron down on her arm. It took me a couple of seconds to realize what was going on and the iron sat on her arm for a couple of seconds. It burned her in two spots really bad. I immediately got it under some cold water and put some cold rags on it. We ended up giving her some ibuprofin and taking her over to my Mom's so she could watch her because I thought she would go to sleep, which she did. On Saturday it had scabbed over and looked pretty ugly and today it still looks really ugly. We have been putting lots of antibiotic ointment on it and today decided to put a bandage on it to keep it protected. She doesn't like the bandage, so we will see how long that lasts.

I felt so bad, I usually keep my curling iron cord up, so that doesn't happend, but this time I didn't. Poor thing!

Carolina turns 1 years old

I made this little cake for her to have to herself- she kept clapping all night everytime we talked to her or sung to her. She was so stinkin cute for her party!
She loved her cake! I feel bad I didn't take a picture of the big cake I made for her. It was also pink and blue and had baby blocks and baby pins on it and it said "Happy 1st Birthday Carolina"

Her candle, she didn't quite get the concept of blowing out the candle, so her brothers helped her.

She loves her little phone from the Anglins

All the kids gathered around to watch her open gifts

Her Noah's Ark from Grandma Mickey- see her clap!

She got a baby doll from Mom and Dad

The birthday girl on Grandma Sargent's lap- can you tell my Mom doesn't want to be in the picture?
Carolina turned 1 on June 3rd. We celebrated her birthday tonight after getting home from Boise. We thought that Sunday nights worked better for schedules, but it turned out to be kind of a bad night for a birthday party. Reid was very distracted trying to get out the door to go down to Southern Utah to pick up his Dad who is stranded down there with Roxanne and Shon's jeep and trailer. Plus we had just got into town so I felt very tired and just had a hard time being in a celebrating mood. But Carolina had fun and that is the most important thing.
I just love this little girl. I get kind of emotional even as I type this. I knew before I was even pregnant with her that we had another little spirit that was supposed to join our family. It would have been very easy to stop with 3 kids, but I knew that we were supposed to have 1 more. She has been a blessing from day one. She loves to cuddle, she gives the best hugs and kisses. She blows kisses which is the cutest thing ever. She says Mom and Dad and bye. She still only has 1 tooth on the bottom. She only likes to feed herself, unless it is potatoes and gravy or ice cream and then she will let you feed it to her. She loves to get down and play and get into all kinds of stuff. I have to watch her like a hawk. She is walking, but not very well, she still crawls more than walks. Her brothers and sister love her so much, and fight over who gets to hold her and play with her. I have a feeling this child might be a bit spoiled since she will always be our baby!

We went to Boise this last weekend so that Reid could participate in the "Idaho City 100 mile endurance motorcycle race". We went with the Williams family and had quite the adventure. We started out friday morning and spend most of the day in the car. We got to Boise checked into our hotel and then headed up to Idaho City so that the boys could get their motorbikes checked in and get all signed in for the race. Then we drove around to figure out where we could watch during the race. By the time we got back to the hotel it was almost 10 pm. I felt bad for the kids because all they wanted to do was swim. So we stayed up late and let them swim in the pool for a while.

Saturday morning the race began. It was quite the adventure for the guys. When we saw Reid about half way through the race at one of the stops he told me that this was the hardest thing he had ever done. The trail goes through the mountains up in Idaho City, but because it had rained so much in the last week or so the trails were really muddy and had lots of mud bogs and because they started towards the end of the race by the time it was their turn to start all the racers in front of them had tore up the trail so bad they had a really bad ruts that they had to ride in. They got stuck a couple of times, but luckily they stayed together during the race so they were able to help each other out. Unfortunately because of the problems on the track they ran out of time for the race and on their last gas stop they were told they were out of time so they weren't able to finish the race. (It is a really confusing way that they time it, and if you don't make your times you don't get to finish.) So they only got to ride about 90 miles of the race. They were dissapointed that they didn't get to finish, but I think they were so exhausted that they were glad to be done also.

The kids, Natalie and I hung out all day. Our kids were really good for the most part. We did a picnic lunch and let them play at the school playground in Idaho City. We also spent a lot of time in the car driving. I felt bad for them because all they wanted to do was go back to the hotel and go swimming. But I was glad we got to see the guys come in and know that they were safe. When we got back that night Reid and Carolina went right to bed. And the other kids and I went swimming for a while, we stayed up until midnight swimming. Reid was a total wreck that night but seemed to be much better the next morning.

All in all it was a good trip, and lots of fun memories. Here are some pictures from our trip.
