Ice Skating on Martin Luther King Day

On the kids day off of school I wanted to take them to do something fun.  We went ice skating here at Tautphaus Park ice rink with the Becks.  We haven't done that before with the kids (I went as a kids) but it has been years.  We had so much fun, it is definitely something we will do again!

Savanna's Basketball

Savanna is doing basketball again this year with the Iona League, she has the same coach and many of the same players as she did last year.  They have lots of fun and it is great watching them improve from year to year.  Savanna is a very aggressive player, she is so quick.  She loves the game and hopefully she will be able to play for years to come.  As the girls get older the games get kind of tough and intense, in fact she played a team already that was so mean, they would pinch them, pull their fingers back, and purposely trip them.  That really is bothersome to me.

Josh's new property

Josh and Natalie William's just bought some new property up on the Iona Hill.  Reid wanted to go check it out, because it is such open country they took their new bb guns that they got for Christmas and had some fun shooting some empty cans.  They also took the 4-wheeler and drove around the property.

Reid's 39th Birthday

For Reid's birthday this year, we just had small family celebrations.  We had his family over for a little dinner party, and then celebrated with Leah's birthday with my family.  I made him a cake with a gun on it (he got a BB gun for his birthday) so that he can shoot bb's with his kids when we go camping.  We had fun celebrating his birthday and letting him know how much we love him.

The after-Christmas plague

Starting Christmas night I started feeling crappy, by the time I went to bed I was full-on sick.  I have not been sick like this for years.  Fever, chills, body aches, felt like my head would explode the works.  I never actually went to the doctor.  I am cheap, try to be tough, and I since Ruth is my sister I feel like she will take care of me.  I am sure I had the flu.  It literally took me two weeks to get better.  I felt so bad, I was the worst Mom and wife during this time period, and my poor kids had to sit around and do nothing during their holiday break from school.  But I could not lift my head off the pillow for days, and then after that I had no energy for days and days.  You know that I am really sick if I don't get up and exercise and if I call in sick to work.  I never do either of those things.  But I didn't exercise for a week and I didn't go to work for almost a week.  I just wanted to document this so I would remember to get a flu shot next year.  Both Treyton and Carolina got it too, but theirs didn't last nearly as long as mine (thank goodness)

Christmas 2013 continued

After we opened Christmas presents at home we went over to my parents and had a delicious breakfast and opened more presents from family.  It is always so much fun to spend time with Grandma and Grandpa, aunts and uncles, and cousins.

Christmas 2013

We had a great Christmas this year at our house.  Santa Clause treated us all very well.  Our families were very generous, our kids were cute and were excited to see what they got, but more importantly were excited to give the gifts that they had made and got for us and each other.  It was a really nice day.
