Mitchel turns 9

I can't believe my little Mitchel bugs is  9 years old.  He is such a good kid.  He really does help me out a bunch and I feel so lucky to be his Mom.

We had a family birthday party on friday night.  We had the Grandparents over for dinner and all the cousins and aunts and uncles over for cake and ice cream and to open presents.  We are so lucky to be apart of such an amazing family on both sides.  Mitchel was so excited he got his first pocket knife from his Dad.  And he got an awesome fishing pole and fishing tackle box from Grandma and Grandpa Sargent, and a fun wii game from Grandma and Grandpa Fuhriman

We give our kids friend birthday parties for their 6, 9 and 12 year old birthdays so this year was Mitchel's.  He was so excited.  We had his friends over for pizza, then we went bowling and then finished up with cake and ice cream and presents.  I know Mitch had a lot of fun, and I hope his friends enjoyed it as well.

Easter 1 week late

We were in Albuquerque over Easter, which was fun and the Easter bunny did find us in our hotel room there.  But the Easter bunny was so kind to wait a week until we got home to celebrate with our family.  He had a wonderful Easter Egg hunt at Grandma Sargent's house, and we got a lovely Easter basket filled with lots of suprises including summer shoes!  I loved to watch my kids delight as they found all the prizes the Easter bunny left them.  All of their stuff had their name on it so they had to go around the yard and find their name.  It was cute watching Carolina because she now recognizes her name so she was having fun finding it.

They all got kites, and love to fly them!

Spring Break trip to Albuquerque

Reid had the opportunity to travel to New Mexico for 8 weeks for a training for work.  It was a good opportunity for work, but the thought of him being gone for 8 weeks seemed very long.  We realized that he would be gone over spring break and decided that me and the kids would drive down there and stay with him during that time.  I decided to brave the long drive by myself with 4 kids.  I was really nervous about that, but decided that it would be worth it.  We left the evening of March 21st and drove down to SLC and stayed with the Hamilton's.  Then got up early on friday morning and drove the rest of the way to Alburquerque.  I have to say that it wasn't bad at all.  The kids handled it really well and I didn't get sleepy or have any problems driving at all.  We arrived in Alburque at about 4:30 just about the time Reid was getting to the hotel after work.  We went out to dinner and had a great time.

We spent the weekends with Reid going to the zoo, going to museums, swimming at the hotel, we went on a cool tram ride up Sandia Peak, and eating at fun restaurants.  During the week Reid had to go to his training so me and the kids hung out in Albuqueque.  I learned how to get around the big town.  We went to the Childrens museum, which was a lot of fun.  We went to many parks for picnics, went to a cool aquarium, went shopping in Old Town, went swimming every day in the hotel, and worked out in the hotel gym, and playing basketball.  It was a great and relaxing trip.  Other than having all of us in a hotel room (we were constantly worried about the kids being too loud and disrupting the neighbors.)  We drove home on Monday the 1st (my 40th birthday), and did really well on our drive home.  All in all it was lots of fun, except for leaving Reid there for another 5 1/2 weeks.  I would totally do it all again.

I really lked the town of Albuquerque, I don't think I would want to live there because it is so big and there are some scary parts of town.  But for the most part people were very nice, it is a clean town, lots of fun things to do and the drivers were very polite.

The Rio Grande Zoo

We celebrated my birthday while in Albuquerque, Reid got me some new work out stuff!

The Hot air balloon museum

The children's museum was awesome, we spent a whole day there, the kids loved it.

At the children's museum I got to ride a bike across a tight rope, only adults could do this.

They got to build their own log cabin.

The aquarium was so cool.  This fish were so big and up close and personal.

Poor Carolina didn't feel a bit good for about 1/2 of our trip and so she had to be carried every where we went.

We went and saw a couple of movies, the Croods, Oz the Great and Powerful and Escape from Planet Earth.  All on different days.  (When in a hotel room for 10 days you have to get out.)

This was Old Town New Mexico, they had lots of fun shops and museums.
We went swimming almost every day.
They provided dinner at the hotel Mon-Thurs so we ate there all those nights.  Carolina fell asleep 2 of those nights at the table.  Poor thing, the last night we ate there she said "I don't want to eat here anymore!"  It was good food and free so that is what we did.
There were tons of fun playgrounds for the kids
We found a "Atomic Power" museum, and this was in it, Idaho is famous.

Dinner at Fudruckers- the best hamburgers!
Reid's rental car was a white volkswagen jetta- my all time favorite car!

The Tram ride to Sandia Peak- it was awesome!
Reid and the 3 oldest went on a hike up at Sandia, they loved it.  I stayed with Carolina who fell asleep.

The Easter bunny found us in our hotel room.  We found a church in Albuquerque and the kids wore their new Easter outfits.
The Temple, it is gorgeous!

On our way home, the Wilson Arch.  The boys tried to hike up to it, but it was too steep.  Plus we wanted to get home.
