Mitchel's 8 year old baptism pictures

My great friend Natalie offered to take some pictures of Mitchel for his baptism gift.  She did a great job and we love the pictures.  Mitchel is such a cute kid and I can't believe he is 8.  He is a great asset to our family and love that we have these pictures to document how cute he was at  years old!  She took so many cute pictures that I couldn't decide which to post, I didn't post them all but most of them.

Lagoon Trip 2012

We decided last minute to go to Lagoon on Saturday to start out our summer adventures for the year.  I decided to put aside my house cleaning money for fun things and decided this would be one of the fun things to do.  We haven't been to Lagoon for several years, the last time we went was when Treyton wasn't even 2 and we didn't have Carolina yet.  We thought that this would be a good time to go before it got too hot.  The weather was absolutely perfect, the high for the day didn't go much above 70 degrees.  The only problem was that there were thousands of other people that had that same idea and the place was jam packed.  There was some major dance competitions going on so there were tons of little girls running around with lots of makeup and hair on, but we still had lots of fun.

Savanna wanted to ride all the big rides, Mitch did at first but quickly realized he didn't like some of those fast roller coasters.  I think he was legitimately scared to death.  So for a big part of the day we split up.  For a while I went with Savanna and rode the big rides while Reid and the other kids did the kid rides, and then for a while Reid took Savanna and sometimes Mitch and rode the big rides while I took the little ones.  Carolina even squeezed in a nap while Reid and the kids did Rattle Snake Rapids and the Log ride.

Towards the beginning of the day Mitch, Savanna and I rode one ride that got us soaked, and I mean soaked, so I had to walk around for the next several hours with soggy feet and jeans.  But I eventually dried out.  We packed in our own lunch and dinner which saved us a ton of money and it was a good thing because the lines to all the food places were just as long as the roller coasters.

We stayed until closing time and so we didn't get home until 2 am.  And since Reid had to leave for work today at noon we were naughty and skipped 9 am church today.  I luckily realized yesterday that we would be exhausted and so I got a sub for primary.  (I am only putting that part in my blog because I feel guilty about sluffing church- oh well, we never do that so I guess as long as we don't make it a habit we are ok.)

I told Reid I would drive home because I slept almost the whole way to Lagoon Saturday morning so I told him that it was only fair that I drive home.  I made it about 1 1/2 hours before I thought I would go crazy, and the poor guy had to drive the rest of the way home while I snoozed.  I kept waking up every 10 minutes and asking him if he was ok.  He unfortunately is used to driving late at night on no sleep, so it was a piece of cake for him.  Luckily we made it home in one piece and carried all 4 of our sleeping beauties into their beds and all slept in past 10 this morning.  It was a great weekend adventure.  Next year if we get the chance to go we will try to do it in the middle of the week to try and hit it on a day that isn't quite so crowded.
