We went to Boise this last weekend so that Reid could participate in the "Idaho City 100 mile endurance motorcycle race". We went with the Williams family and had quite the adventure. We started out friday morning and spend most of the day in the car. We got to Boise checked into our hotel and then headed up to Idaho City so that the boys could get their motorbikes checked in and get all signed in for the race. Then we drove around to figure out where we could watch during the race. By the time we got back to the hotel it was almost 10 pm. I felt bad for the kids because all they wanted to do was swim. So we stayed up late and let them swim in the pool for a while.

Saturday morning the race began. It was quite the adventure for the guys. When we saw Reid about half way through the race at one of the stops he told me that this was the hardest thing he had ever done. The trail goes through the mountains up in Idaho City, but because it had rained so much in the last week or so the trails were really muddy and had lots of mud bogs and because they started towards the end of the race by the time it was their turn to start all the racers in front of them had tore up the trail so bad they had a really bad ruts that they had to ride in. They got stuck a couple of times, but luckily they stayed together during the race so they were able to help each other out. Unfortunately because of the problems on the track they ran out of time for the race and on their last gas stop they were told they were out of time so they weren't able to finish the race. (It is a really confusing way that they time it, and if you don't make your times you don't get to finish.) So they only got to ride about 90 miles of the race. They were dissapointed that they didn't get to finish, but I think they were so exhausted that they were glad to be done also.

The kids, Natalie and I hung out all day. Our kids were really good for the most part. We did a picnic lunch and let them play at the school playground in Idaho City. We also spent a lot of time in the car driving. I felt bad for them because all they wanted to do was go back to the hotel and go swimming. But I was glad we got to see the guys come in and know that they were safe. When we got back that night Reid and Carolina went right to bed. And the other kids and I went swimming for a while, we stayed up until midnight swimming. Reid was a total wreck that night but seemed to be much better the next morning.

All in all it was a good trip, and lots of fun memories. Here are some pictures from our trip.
