Memorial Day Camping at Sandcreek

For Memorial Day Weekend we took off to Sandcreek and went fishing for the weekend.  We haven't really taken our kids fishing before and thought this would be great.  Reid grew up going to Sandcreek fishing with his Grandparents so he wanted to take the kids and give them that same opportunity.  We went with his parents and Danny.  We were having such a great and relaxing time.  We did have one major problem.  Poor Carolina got a fish hook in her eyelid.  Poor Treyton was casting his line and didn't realize Carolina was behind him and he got her.  It was very scary, we couldn't tell if it had gone in her eyeball, so Reid and I jumped into the truck and headed off to the emergency room.  Thankfully we got their quick and they got us right in, and found that the hook hadn't gone all the way through the eyelid it was just on the top layer of the lid.  They had to put an IV in her to sedate her, that is the only time she cried was when they put it in her arm. (except for the initial hit).  She was so brave and just kept all the way still the whole way to Rexburg.  She was so cute when she was coming out of anestesia, her words were all slurred and she kept asking funny questions.  One thing she kept saying was "Mom, where is Dad?'  He was in the room with us until they got the hook out and then he went outside to fix our truck.  We feel like we had angels watching out for us because not only did the hook not penetrate her eyeball, but our truck died, all the way as soon as we pulled up to the emergency room doors.  Somehow the battery terminals came loose on the drive, but by some miracle it didn't die until we made it to the hospital.  Thankfully it was an easy fix!  After all was said and done Carolina wanted to go back to camp, you could barely tell anything had happened and her eye is perfectly fine.

This was such a fun camping trip. I really enjoyed being with everyone! So glad it all turned out with Carolina. she have us quite a scare, but she was a real trooper. I was so impressed with Treyton, and the love that the kids had for Carolina. what a together family.

So lets go camping again!!! I like watching Mitch eat Smores!!!
