Waterskiing

Last night my family went up to Blacktail to celebrate my brother-in-law Kent's birthday and also to celebrate the end of summer.  It is so fun to hang out with these people that I love and to spend time away from our phones and by the lake.  Me and the girls (Val, Sara, and Ruth) went on the boat for a while by ourselves, we all waterskiied and laughed and had a great time.  Sometimes you just need some girl time!

Getting dinner going!

Carolina couldn't wait to have a turn.
 Look at that cute bum!
She did pretty good, but when it was time to try to come back down, she couldn't understand the concept of leaning back, finally Roxanne had to go up and help her.  She was happy though and didn't eve get scared!
Reid's sister Roxanne and her family are here for a little summer vacation from North Carolina.  They are always up for an adventure and it is so nice because they always invite everyone along to join them.  They are really into rock climbing and last night headed out to Heise to do some of it.  Honestly I wasn't super excited about going, I have never done much of it myself and I had worked all day and my house was a mess and just wanted to go home, but I knew that my kids wanted to go and they probably needed the opportunity which wouldn't come along often.  It turned out to be a lot of fun, all 4 of my kids got to do it and had a blast.  Thanks Shon and Roxanne for taking us rock climbing!

Our version of a Pioneer Trek

I love this shot of Carolina and Kate from behind.

This last year for Christmas my Mom got us the movie "17 Miracles" about miracles that occured while the Mormon Pioneers crossed the plains.  It is a great movie and a real tear jerker.  I loved the movie and so did my Mom.  She also made all the grand daughters pioneer bonnetts, and bought the boys pioneer hats.  She also bought a little handcart and told us all to plan on doing a pioneer trek this summer.  So she planned it all and we did it this last week.  We went up to Ozone (or what used to be Ozone) which is towards Bone.  My Mom's family on the Otteson side used to homestead there back in the late 1800's and now my Mom's cousin has a cabin where the town used to be.  So we went up there and did a little over a mile trek, dressed up in our pioneer attire and then met at the cabin for some pioneer stories and some dinner.  It ended up being many more family members besides my parents immediate family, because my Mom decided it would be a great opportunity for our cousins and aunts and uncles too.  It turned out really great and I am glad we did it.  It really makes you appreciate in a small portion of what the pioneers went through.
