New Stove

Old stove, you can't really tell from the picture, but there is a big crak on the top, and it was actually starting to stick up. We were afraid someone would get cut.

New stove- isn't it a beauty? We got the old fashionaed coil kind, they say they are better for canning which I hope to do more of this year.

This is how boring my life is right now, I am blogging about getting a new stove/oven. But I am seriously excited about it. We have only had our other one for 5 years, but the flat surface glass top broke a few years ago. We tried to replace it on warranty but no such luck, so we were just living with it realizing that we would eventually have to get a new one. Then last weekend it broke even worse when Reid decided to scoop ice cream on it.

We went to Sears to look and found one we liked. We ordered it and went to pick it up today. As we were loading it, I noticed that on the box it said "white", which isn't good since we thought we had ordered black. We opened the box and sure enough it was white. Come to find out the sales lady had accidentally ordered the wrong color for us. We were quite discouraged because we had already taken out our other stove and didn't want to be without for a week while they ordered another one. The sales clerk did some checking and told us they didn't have any black in stock, but that they did have the black and stainless that they could give us for the same price. Score- when we bought it originally I had wanted the stainless but it was over $100 more and didn't want to pay that. So it all turned out great and we got the one I wanted originally.

Yay!!! I think getting a new stove is way worth celebrating...especially getting the one you wanted. I'm glad it worked out.

I have also heard that the old fashioned coil burners are the best for canning. Last year I tried doing some outside on our camp chef. It was a little inconvenient to run everything in and out of the house, but it was nice to have the mess out of my kitchen. I am hoping to expand my garden this year and do even more canning - I don't love it, but it truly was a blessing to have canned so much. I used to think the time spent wasn't worth it, but I have changed my tune.
