First Year of Little League

Mitchel played Little League this year for the first time with the Hillcrest Youth Baseball league.  It was a good learning year for him.  It started out a little rough but by the end of the season he hit his groove and ended up getting some great plays and lots of good hits.  He was on the Athletics team with Nathan Johns as the coach.  We lucked out getting on the same team with Braydon Byington which was nice because we carpooled a lot with them and Mitch and Braydon rode their  bikes to practice most of the time over at Discovery Elementary where they practiced.  This took a lot more time than pitching machine ever did.  Practice twice a week and games twice a week.  Each game was about 2 1/2 hours.  There were lots of long game, but Mitch really enjoyed it and we will for sure do it again.

Last days of school

Thursday June 5th was the last day of school.  I had to go to work, so I sent the kids off to school and started off to work.  I had the thought that I needed to go take the kids picture with their teacher, I hadn't gotten any so far this year with just their teachers.  The thought would not leave my mind so I turned the van around and went back to the school.  I am so glad I listened to that prompting because when I got their they were starting an awards assembly and I got to see Treyton and Savanna win some awards.  Treyton got 3 awards- Citizenship, highest AR points, and one for Math.  Savanna won, one for math.  Then Savanna was able to get dunked in the dunking tank for being a part of the student council this year.  This has really been a terrific year at Summit Hills.

On Tuesday afternoon I was able to go and help with Treyton's 1st grade field day Ho-down.  It was amazing, Maggie Hawkes had everything planned out so well.  I was able to go around with Treyton's group and watch them do all their fun activities.

On Wednesday night they had a Math night to show off all that they had learned all year doing the new Singapore math program.  Ours was the first school in Idaho to implement this math program.  Now for next year all of district 93, and 91 will be implementing it.  The kids had great teachers and a great year of learning!

Carolina turns 5

Carolina turned 5 this year.  Because she is my baby this birthday was a little hard for me,

a 5 year old is officially getting big. Carolina will always be my baby.  This year we have been home together while the kids went to school, but she is very ready to go to kindergarten.  She is growing up so fast.  I had for the first time a slight regret that we didn't have any more babies, although in reality I know that stopping at 4 children was the right decision for our family.

Carolina had a fun birthday weekend although she was feeling sick.  We had a little get together with the Fuhriman family on Saturday night, and then one with the Sargent family on Sunday night.  She got to celebrate her birthday with Talmage on Sunday so that was fun.

She got lots of fun presents and loved having a "Beauty and the Beast cake".  On her actual birthday I took her to Target and she got to pick out a few new shirts and got to eat at McDonalds.

We love this little girl at our house!
